Because of the extreme mounting height, it was imperative to have minimum need for maintenance, long lamp life and high lumen output. In addition, the sanctuary had to be totally free of noise. The fixtures had to operate quietly – no buzzing and no cooling fans. However, the biggest challenge was that the worship services were televised and there could be absolutely no flicker, as the fixtures were dimmed, that could be picked up by the television cameras.
